Penybont complete the signing of Tyler walker
Penybont FC are delighted to confirm the signing of the experienced EFL striker, Tyler Walker from Barrow in the EFL League 2.
Walker boasts a wide variety of experiences in the EFL, featuring for current Premier League sides, Nottingham Forest and Coventry, current Championship sides, Lincoln and Bolton, League One sides, Portsmouth, Stevenage, Mansfield and Burton and League Two competitors, Port Vale and Barrow.
Walker has made 45 senior Nottingham Forest appearances and 72 senior Coventry appearances, establishing himself as a professional, proven at the very top of English football.
However, Tyler’s most memorable season didn’t come at either of these clubs. Instead, it occurred in a one year spell at Mansfield where he picked up 26 goals in 52 appearances, marking himself as the League Two Golden Boot runner up and earning himself a sought after place in the PFA League Two team of the season.
The 29 year old’s first senior goal came in a 2-2 draw to Brentford for Nottingham Forest, whilst his first England U20 goal came in an emphatic 5-0 win over the Czech Republic, in which he scored twice to seal a brace. He has over 250 EFL appearances to his name with 60 goals in that time!
Between 2021-23, Tyler’s positional rival was Arsenal’s Premier League winning striker, Viktor Gyokores and the pair famously both scored in the same game for Coventry in a tight 3-2 win over Stoke. Besides Gyokores, Walker has also shared a the centre forward position with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Michail Antonio, Brennan Johnson and Chris Wood.
Walker is a pacey and athletic forward who has been nicknamed “The Ghost” by current Colchester manager, Danny Cowley and is known to be a natural finisher with a lethal eye for goal.
Tyler is the son of former England, Nottingham Forest, Sampdoria, Sheffield Wednesday and PFA Team of the Century player, Des Walker and brother of former Como, QPR and Gillingham forward, Lewis Walker.
As Bont only scored 5 goals from January to May, Tyler will certainly look to resolve Bont’s struggles in finding the net.
