Penybont 2-1 Bala Town
Bala Town visited the DragonBet Stadium for the first time in over a year and a half this weekend, in what was billed on being a highly competitive league clash that could see Bont retain the second-place position.
The game kicked off in front of an excited Bont crowd. A warm hum grazed over the Dragon Bet with the Bont faithful in full voice as the boys in blue began the charge, immediately asserting control over the fixture. Despite numerous efforts, including a Bala Town goal-line clearance, Bont approached the break goalless and on level terms with the North Wales side.
Bont weren't deterred and with the Bont bank in full voice, almost only minutes into the second half, Noah Daley struck the ball sweetly on a volley and bent it around a fully stretched Bala goalkeeper. Bont won a free kick only 10 minutes later that saw Nathan Wood fire a powerful strike narrowly wide of goal and with Bont thirsty for a second, they continued to apply pressure. Bont pushed forward as Owen Pritchard found himself in possession in a promising area and after lofting an accurate cross into the penalty area, James Cole used his head to rocket home a second for Bont.
Bont made two late changes as Ioan Phillips replaced Noah Daley and Chris Venables replaced Ash Baker in an evident attempt to use their skills to see out the game. A late consolation goal by the visitors was too little too late and didn't deter Bont as the boys in blue climbed into second place.
