Penybont 0-2 Caernarfon Town

Under a rain washed Bridgend sky, Penybont welcomed North Wales title challengers, Caernarfon Town to the DragonBet Stadium in what was anticipated to be a tight league clash!

The game commenced at 2:30 and a fairly uneventful first half an hour saw neither side take control! The first notable effort went the way of Caernarfon as Luke Armstrong covered the width of his net to parry away a close range Caernarfon strike to keep the scoreline level. Bont followed this at the other end of the pitch with a dipping Clayton Green strike from distance in an attempt to open the scoring but saw it get parried over the bar. This proved to be exactly the kind of encouragement that Bont required and shortly after, a curling Kane Owen strike found the target but was punched away! This was followed by a powerful Gabe Kircough strike that was dealt with, by a Caernarfon defender as Bont applied pressure. Two minutes were added onto the first half and Bont went into the break on level terms. The game got back underway and the first chance of the second half went to the visitors as they headed a fairly tame effort over the bar. Only a minute later, the visitors opened the scoring through a Kyle Harrison strike. Yellow cards were shown to Ash Baker and Clayton Green before Wood and Little were replaced by Pritchard and Clay. Yet again, Pritchard made an immediate impact off the bench as he struck a far post curling effort that was neatly parried away by Connor Roberts. Yet another change was made by Rhys Griffiths as Owain Warlow entered the field in replacement of Kane Owen. Only a couple of minutes later, Clayton Green found the net for Bont, but just after the offside flag had been raised. However, seconds after, down the other end of the pitch, Sion Bradley smashed home a second for Caernarfon, sealing the win for the visitors despite a late change, that saw Phillips replace Daley.

Next up: Bont head up north where they will face Flint Town United in what is predicted to be a feisty league affair.
